National Center for Social Accountability (NCSA)

National Center for Social Accountability (NCSA) is the third component of Program of Accountability in Nepal (PRAN) initiated by the World Bank Group Nepal with financial support from State Peace Building fund (SPBF) and Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF).  NCSA is being executed by SAP-Nepal for SA knowledge sharing and networking. The broad objective of the project is to establish a National Center for Social Accountability (NCSA) and 5 Social Accountability Regional Resource Centers working with communities of practice on the development themes of governance, transparency or accountability; and building networks and coalitions among diverse Nepali CSOs and practitioners to share knowledge and best practices. NCSA is committed to contribute the program in mapping and documenting social accountability practices in the region, strengthen networks of CSOs working in the field of Social Accountability, effectively use Public Hearing and local media to address identified issues of Social Accountability by amplifying voices of civil society and its network.

DEC Nepal is a partner of SAP Nepal to establish and strengthen SA Regional Resource Centre in Central Development Region and; to establish and strengthen a regional network involving CSOs working in the field of Social Accountability. DEC Nepal is being involved to execute the following major activities under NCSA at central development regional level : i) developing existing library of DEC Nepal as SA resource center equipped with SA related knowledge materials ii)  collecting both primary and secondary resource materials of SA and documenting them properly iii) conducting public hearing activities focusing on transparency and accountability iv) conducting SA network and outreach activities in program district of Central Development Region v) Involving SA regional network’s members in various SA related events.

DEC-Nepal is implementing various activities under NCSA in 10 districts of Central Development Region namely Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Dhading and Rasuwa in partnership with SAP-Nepal.
